Lamborghini Centenario Revealed At Geneva

The Pinnacle of Lamborghini Design, The Centenario

To celebrate what would be Ferruccio Lamborghini’s 100th birthday, Lamborghini have revealed the Lamborghini Centenario, a limited run hyper car based on the Aventador. With a striking exterior that features advanced aerodynamics made from carbon fibre, and an upgraded version of the Aventador’s V12, the  Lamborghini Centenario is the pinnacle of Lamborghini design.

The Most Powerful V12 Engine Lamborghini Has Ever Made

That the Aventador V12 pumps out 759bhp, giving the Centenario 499hp per ton, is an improvement over even the Aventador SV. Sadly, only 40 Centenario’s will ever be built; 20 coupes, and 20 convertibles and they’ve all been sold for a eye watering £1.64 million each. This also means that Geneva 2016 might be the last chance for people to see the Centenario, before it’s pushed into the corner of some billionaire’s garage under a custom car cover never to see the light of day again. It’s sad really that a car meant for speeding round the racetrack is likely never going to see full throttle ever.

A Fitting Tribute For Ferruccio’s Centenary

Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkleman even said, “The car has immediately proven itself as a desirable collectors’ car, while demonstrating new Lamborghini technologies. It is the most fitting tribute to Ferruccio Lamborghini in his centenary year.” The Centenario may only be a collector’s piece but the technology involved is incredible. The Centenario goes from 0-62 in 2.8 seconds and onto a top speed of 217mph and the carbon ceramic brakes will bring the car to a complete halt from 186mph in 290 metres.

Tradition And Innovation Combined Into Brilliance

Winkleman also said, “The Centenario is a car that perfectly combines tradition and innovation. It’s an opportunity for our designers and engineers to transcend some of the constraints of series production to achieve an incomparable result.” And, whilst the Centenario is an incredible car, it still doesn’t quite hold up to the kings of the hyper cars, the McLaren P1, Porsche 918 or the Ferrari LaFerrari. Lamborghini is still the little brother struggling to keep up with its older, more accomplished competition.
