The Weekend Garage: Paul Walker Special

It’s been a tough week for car enthusiasts. We all know that driving cars is a dangerous endeavour, the danger that encompasses driving makes itself apparent during nearly every commute. Such a dismal fact does not de-sensitise us from truly gut-wrenching road accidents, however, as can be found evident in the tragic passing of Paul Walker and friend Roger Rodas.

Both men were enjoying what many petrolheads find as the centre of their enthusiasm – driving. What’s more, they were doing so in a car that many enthusiasts can only dream of even setting foot in.

Paul’s role in The Fast And The Furious movie franchise converted countless numbers of people into petrolheads. Thusly, this Weekend Garage will hopefully fulfil the purpose of paying homage to Paul Walker by focusing on some of the cars that brought the young actor to fame.

Paul Walker’s Fast Films Legacy

There is an absolute host of cars to choose from, most of them likely to hold a special place in the hearts of motoring enthusiasts across the globe. R34 GT-Rs, Supras, Chargers, Mk1 Escorts, Lan-Evos, Scoobys, RX-7s, CCXRs… even an RS200 for those with a taste for Group B rallying. Quite honestly you’d need to be awfully picky to not have at least one car that causes a nibble on your lower lip.

In Paul’s Honour

Below is a list of some of the cars that Paul Walker drove during the famous 6 films. In Paul’s honour we ask you to choose which car you’d have in the garage for the weekend, and why?

  • Mitsubishi Eclipse
  • Toyota Supra
  • Nissan Skyline GT-R R34 (1999)
  • Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VII
  • Nissan Skyline GT-R R34
  • Subaru Impreza WRX STi
  • Nissan GT-R
  • Ford Escort MK I

Would it be the undetachable R34 GT-R for it’s absurd pace and mod-ability? Or maybe it would be the Mk1 Escort for its rallying pedigree and potential four rear-drive exploitability?

Or maybe it would be a Toyota Supra, purely for the fact that undercover cop Brian O’Connor drove it as his car of choice before ultimately giving the keys to Dominic Toretto because he owed him “a ten second car”.

Paul Walker was a great man, a fantastic advocate for gearheads, and as such he will be sorely missed. Leave a comment below of the car you’ve chosen and why so as to honour Paul and Roger’s passion for cars.

RIP Paul Walker and Roger Rodas, you will be missed greatly.
